| Amazon Offers Unlocked Sony BMG Tunes
Online retailer Amazon.com said on Thursday its digital music store will now offer songs from Sony BMG Music Entertainment without copy-protection technology, or digital rights management. Amazon said the deal makes it the first retailer to offer customers DRM-free songs from all four major music companies in the MP3 format. Songs in MP3 format can play on the widest range of digital music players including Apple's iPod, Microsoft's Zune and various mobile phones. Sony BMG, which is the second largest music company in the world, is home to such artists as Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Celine Dion. Earlier this week, Sony BMG became the last of the four major music companies to start selling its digital songs without copy protection with the launch of its MusicPass service.
Tax season
Get ready for another tricky tax season. Some last-minute tax legislation by Congress has once more turned something predictable and tedious into something that's confusing and, well, tedious. This time, it waited so long to pass legislation to stop the spread of the alternative minimum tax that the IRS hasn't fully updated its systems yet. Millions of taxpayers who file certain forms must wait until Feb. 11 to get their returns processed. That's sure to delay some refunds. .

The trains and trams long stopped running and the night buses are infrequent, leaving hundreds of people out on the streets. There is a boot-sized dent in Mr Eade's back passenger door from where someone kicked it in last month. On the roof is a deep scratch from the time another person threw a road sign at the car while Mr Eade was waiting at a set of traffic lights. "When I joined we were the good guys. You could walk into a room of 50 people having a blue and say stop and they would. Being a paramedic was like some sort of force-field," he says. "Not any more. People will actively target ambos." We drive down the tram tracks at high speed towards a dark street in Fairfield, where a partly disabled man has punched his girlfriend in the cheek and is tearing up their home.
