Did Racist Voters Cost Obama The Primary?

They've been after the Clintons from the get-go and they tried in the mid-90's to destroy them, but now they smell blood like a bunch of ravenous sharks and they know that they can easily knock Obama out of the way and get Hillary nominated as the Democratic candidate so that they can claw her to pieces in order to regain the White House.

And I agree with "yormsane's" take on all of this. All of the polls had Obama leading by double digits and whammo, suddenly he loses? What's THAT all about? Don't tell me that Hillary's disingenuous tears had anything to do with it. New Hampshire-ites aren't THAT stupid to fall for a trick like that in order to gain sympathy and traction and therefore votes from women voters.

And how is it that the youth vote failed to turn out in NH? In unseasonably warm weather, to boot? Kids, where were you, if this is, indeed, true? How can you let us down like this? Hillary's main constituency seems to be older people, compared to Obama's strength among the younger voters, and according to NPR, New Hampshire has seen a recent surge in new voters moving to that state and I know they can't all be older people looking to retire in chilly northern New England! According to what I'm hearing, the upswing in population in NH is mostly younger people migrating from places like Massachusetts.

Freebie Fridays Help You Save Cash

This is a Freebie Friday that won't cost you money, but it could cost you some serious time. I'm talking about an internet golf game so new, it's only in beta right now. The people behind the website have partnered with Kiawah Island Golf Resort, taken tons of professional photos and used them to make a golf game you can play on the internet.

The makers of the game say it's the most authentic online golf game out there. Since it's the only online golf game I've ever played, I can't speak to that, but I recently read a column about this game in fortune magazine. The columnist goes so far as to predict that when the game goes live in June, business productivity in offices around the country will drop precipitously.

Since the game is in beta, the only game you can play right now is a "closest to the pin" competition, but this summer you can play the entire course against your friends on the internet.

Internet France Rules Amazon's Free Shipping Illegal, Amazon Shrugs ...

Amazon.com, one of the largest stores online, offers several features that entice buyers to purchase there, such as "one-click purchasing" and free shipping on many items. While Amazon's multiple attempts to patent "one-click purchasing" has drawn no small amount of ire, the offer of free shipping has been lauded as a beneficial attribute -- until now. Amazon.com's French website Amazon.fr currently stands in violation of a 1981 French law prohibiting certain discounts on books. The ruling by the French High Court contained two fines -- a one-time lump sum payment of €100,000 to the French Bookseller's Union, and a fine of €1,000 per day until the offending "free shipping" promotion is ended. While the proverbial gavel banged on December 12th, a "grace period" until mid-January gave them time to "correct the problem" and respond.

Market sentiment whipsawed between near panic and a more hopeful view. We still believe that investors should stay close to home going into the Fed meeting," analysts at Lehman Brothers wrote in a briefing note, referring to the past week's trading.

Analysts cautioned that the rollercoaster ride of recent weeks is probably not over just yet. News that a "rogue trader" at French banking giant Societe Generale lost around seven billion dollars stoked renewed unease at week's end.

Wall Street has struggled to make headway so far this year amid a worsening US housing slump and a related credit squeeze.

The large rate cut unleashed by the Fed on Tuesday appeared to soothe some investors, the central bank slashed its key federal funds rate by three quarters of a percentage point to 3.50 percent, but market participants believe fresh cuts are in store.

Deya's lawyers to appeal against extradition.

At the extradition hearing, District Judge Caroline Tubbs heard from the lawyer for the Kenyan government that they had sufficient evidence to prosecute Mr Deya for child stealing after a group of small children were discovered in his Nairobi home.

The discovery came after media reports in both Kenya and Britain in August 2004 about the arrival of 'miracle babies' to members of Mr Deya's UK-based evangelical church.

Police in both countries subsequently investigated and Kenyan authorities used DNA testing to discover that none of the small children in the Deya home in Nairobi were the biological children of either Mr or Mrs Deya - contrary to what the couple said.

In an interview with British police in November 2004, Mr Deya said he was the father of the children in question.

But it appears they've forgotten how to spell the word "fiscal" around these parts, so maybe the joke just tells itself when I point that out... JMR
