Following a flurry of speculation, eBay confirmed that Meg Whitman, its president and CEO, will step down effective March 31 after a highly successful 10-year tenure. She'll remain on the company's board of directors. Whitman is credited with transforming eBay from an obscure San Jose, Calif.-based auction site into an e-commerce powerhouse with more than 15,000 employees and nearly $7.7 billion in revenue.

Pre-Game: Bulls Banged Up for West's Best

When I was a kid, there was nothing better than coming home from church and watching the Sunday afternoon game. That John Tesh "NBA on NBC" theme song still brings delicious waves of nostalgia through my mind, and now that I'm here on the final day of the weekend, I couldn't be any happier, especially when the Phoenix Suns are in town. .

Children build on as Lego turns 50 today

Since then, the company has expanded to include theme parks and products like Lego Star Wars games to lure the modern child who is more interested in PlayStation and iPod than old-fashioned toys.

Today, Lego's bestsellers include its Star Wars, Lego City and Bionicle ranges. But the traditional eight-stud brick, said Lego's Australian marketing manager, Caroline Squire, is still the foundation of the business.

"(The brick) is a product that's never changed from the moment it was conceived in 1958. The bricks that were sold then are still compatible with the bricks we sell in 2008," she said.

"And, I think, for a product, in light of the way things have changed in the past 50 years to still be in the marketplace still be a huge hit with kids and adults alike, is a massive achievement."

Barack Obama beats Hillary Clinton in South Carolina

BARACK Obama defeated Hillary Clinton in the racially-charged South Carolina primary today.

After losses in New Hampshire and Nevada, the victory gave Obama, who would be the first black president, a big lift heading into the Super Tuesday contests on February 5, when nearly half of the US states will pick Republican and Democratic candidates for the November election. US television projected Obama as the winner in the key contest for the Democratic Party nomination, with Clinton and former senator John Edwards in a close race for second. Obama, who badly needed a win to keep his hopes alive, was projected to win with 81 per cent of the black vote, while Clinton, who would be the first woman US president, took 17 per cent of that segment according to a CNN exit poll. The South Carolina vote marked a second key victory for Obama and evened the score with Clinton, who has also won two key state primaries ahead of a blitz of nearly two dozen nationwide contests on February 5.

Bogus Universities and Dodgy Degrees

Of course its dodgy, the whole thing is dodgy, Professor Baron Knowth, the Honourary Chancellor of the Irish International University, made the sensational admission to the BBC in an undercover operation. I am white, they appreciate somebody from the UK giving them degrees, the chancellor added. The University has a strange connection to Oxford and Cambridge, where it holds graduation ceremonies. But this association is strategic than academic. Chancellor Knowth was unequivocal: if you mention Oxford, Cambridge, the whole world thinks it must be a good university. And because fake begets fake, it turns out that the honourary chancellors name is fake; he is Jeffrey Wooller, a chartered accountant who owns a 1.2 Million mansion in Kensington, one of Londons expensive addresses, but prefers to live in Monaco on a self-imposed tax exile.

Mass Media 2000-2004

The rest stayed at NTV under Boris Jordan, who was simultaneously the channel's new general manager and head of Gazprom Media.

In late October 2002, NTV's coverage of the hostage-taking incident at the theater on Dubrovka aroused the Kremlin's ire. This was one of the main reasons why the shareholders fired Boris Jordan without explanation at the end of January 2003, despite his successes in expanding NTV and Gazprom Media. In February 2003, Gazprom chairman Aleksei Miller appointed a completely unknown pulmonologist, Nikolai Senkevich, as NTV's general manager and Aleksandr Dybal became head of Gazprom Media. On July 5, 2004, former vice president of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company (VGTRK) Vladimir Kulistikov was appointed NTV's new general manager and Nikolai Senkevich moved to the position of general manager of Gazprom Media.
